Canine Hepatic Shunt Occluders
HSP Hepatic Shunt Occluders (HSO) provide a reliable progressive venous occlusion of CPS (Congenital Portosystemic Shunts) in both dogs and cats. With a single surgical operation they have proven to be successful in the treatment of dogs and cats previously unresponsive to other treatments.
Hepatic Shunt Occluders are constructed using medical grade silicone. They are easily manipulated and are designed for permanent implanting. They are available in a range of lumen sizes with a cuff width of 7mm. Hepatic Shunt Occluders are recommended for use in conjunction with a SQ port for precutaneously controlled, incremental hydraulic occlusion of the shunt over time. We recommend using normal saline, hypertonic saline, dextrose solution, sodium hyaluronate or other biocompatible liquids with sufficient density to achieve the desired degree of occlusion.
For your convenience, the Hepatic Shunt Occluder Kits include all items typically used during the medical procedure: Hepatic Shunt Occluder, titanium access port with blue boot to fit the AUS catheter. Huber point needles, surgical suggestions and instructions for use
We also recommend purchasing the reusable backfill infusion flush/fill catheter with your first order of the AUS or the HSO system, as it will make the preparation of the occluder much easier, particularly if this is the first time using this system.
